Abstract: Based on the generalized Lorenz-Mie theory (GLMT), the incident fundamental Gaussian beam is expanded in terms of the vector spherical harmonics. We present an expression of radiation trapping forces acting on a multilayered spherical particle in a Gaussian beam by using the theory of electromagnetic momentum, and, as an example, numerical results are given to an axial two-layer absorbing spherical particle, along with a discussion about the influence of the beam waist radius, relative complex refractive index and thickness of the two layers on trapping forces.
