Abstract: A novel finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method, called piecewise linear current density recursive convolution method,is developed for dispersive media. The formulation of this method is derived using the convolution relationship between the current density and the electric field. The high accuracy and efficiency of this method are confirmed by computing the reflection and transmission coefficients of electromagnetic waves through a collisional plasma slab in one dimension.
