1965, 21 (8): 1469-1474. doi: 10.7498/aps.21.1469
Abstract +
A device and method for measuring the P-V relation of certain substances under hydrostatic pressure up to 30,000 kg/cm2 are described in detail. The pressure in the vessel was calibrated by the pressure transition phenomena of KBr, KC1 and Bi at 20℃. The result shows that the pressure in the vessel varies linearly with the applied force. Corrections were made for the deformation of the piston and the vessel by comparing the apparent volume contraction of a S. P. iron specimen measured in this vessel, with those reported by P. W. Bridgman. Some P-V relation of paraffin, pyrophillite, polystyrene, plexy-glass, Al, KBr, KC1, and Bi is also given.
THE STRUCTURE OF DISLOCATION LOOPS OF INDENTATION IN SILICON
HUNG CHING, YEH I-CHENG
1965, 21 (8): 1475-1486. doi: 10.7498/aps.21.1475
Abstract +
The chemical etching method has been used to investigate the dislocation "rosette" of silicon single crystal specimens under indentation at temperatures 800-1000℃. Experimental results show that all the dislocations introduced in silicon due to indentation distribute in the {111} slip planes; the dislocation lines are mostly oriented along the and directions. Analysis indicates that dislocation loops with the Burgers vector along the parallel to the {111} surface of indentation and with the Burgers vector along the inclined with the surface of indentation, are present. Discussion of the structure of the dislocation half-loops is given.
A PHASE DIAGRAM OF THE COPPER-RICH ALLOYS OF THE TERNARY SYSTEM OF ALUMINIUM-CADMIUM-COPPER
C. S. CHENG, KAN YOU-PING, LI DE-XUAN
1965, 21 (8): 1487-1493. doi: 10.7498/aps.21.1487
Abstract +
The phase diagram of the copper-rich alloys of the ternary system of Aluminium-cadmium-copper, containing up to 30 wt % Al and up to 30 wt % Cd, has been studied by X-ray diffraction methods. The solid phase section at room temperature was found to consist of five single-phase [i.e.α,γ2,δ,ζ2,and η2] regions, ten two-phese [i.e.α+β,α+γ2,β+γ2,γ2+δ,β+δ,δ+ζ2,ζ2+η2,δ+η2,β+η2,and η2+θ] regions, and four threephase [i.e.α+β+γ2,β+γ2+δ,β+δ+η2,and δ+ζ2+η2] regions. No new phase was observed in these alloys of the system.

CALCULATION OF THE DIRECT PROCESS OF SPIN-LATTICE RELAXATION IN RUBY
HUANG WU-HAN, LIN FU-CHENG, LAU CHIE-HUNG
1965, 21 (8): 1500-1510. doi: 10.7498/aps.21.1500
Abstract +
The direct process of spin-lattice relaxation in the ground state of ruby of low concentration is calculated at low temperature. The nonradiative transition probabilities within the four ground sub-levels are calculated by aid of second-order wave functions obtained in the strong-field coupling scheme. Under the measured condition of impulse saturation at θ=90°, the spin-lattice relaxation time at 1.4°K is obtained by solving the rate equations. The calculated result conforms satisfactorily to the experimental data given by Pace et al.
AN INVESTIGATION OF A LOW-VOLTAGE SPARK DISCHARGE
LEE WEN-CHONG
1965, 21 (8): 1511-1521. doi: 10.7498/aps.21.1511
Abstract +
The present paper gives the results of an analysts of the transient process of discharge by the Laplace transformation method. Observations of the discharge voltage and current were made with an oscillograph. From our study, a general knowledge of the characteristic of such a discharge circuit and the influence of the parameters on line intensities were obtained.
A SHELL MODEL INTERPRETATION OF THE SPECTRA OF 2s1/2-ld3/2 NUCLEI
YANG SHAN-TEH
1965, 21 (8): 1522-1532. doi: 10.7498/aps.21.1522
Abstract +
Taking account of the mixing of states within the subshells 2s1/2 and ld3/2, we have systematically calculated the spectra of nuclei with A=30, 31, 32 and A=37, 38, according to Talmi's method. The calculated results are in good agreement with the expenmental data.
THE PERIPHERAL ELECTROMAGNETIC INTERACTIONS OF THE FAST CHARGED PARTICLES AND NUCLEONS
WANG PEY
1965, 21 (8): 1533-1543. doi: 10.7498/aps.21.1533
Abstract +
In this paper, we have investigated the influence upon the modification of the theory of equivalent spectrum of photons by Weizs?cker-Williams, given by the electromagnetic structure of the nucleon. To overcome the difficulty caused by the divergence in the calculation with the form factor of the Clementel-Villi's type, we have suggested also a way of modifying the form factor. The results of the calculation show that within the region in which the method of equivalent spectrum of photons works, our results conform to Weizs?cker-Williams' theory, if the masses for the two particles in collision are considerably different; however, the influence of the structure is very evident, if the masses of the two particles are approximate to each other.
ON SINGULARITIES OF AMPLITUDES IN A PERTURBATION THEORY
T. S. CHANG, T. F. WU, T. C. JIU
1965, 21 (8): 1544-1551. doi: 10.7498/aps.21.1544
Abstract +
This short paper gives two remarks on the singularities of the scattering amplitudes in a perturbation theory. First, it is pointed out that if the condition of stability is violated at several corners of a Feynmann diagram so that analytic extensions with respect to several external masses must be made, different sequences of carrying out the analytic extensions may lead to different positions of the singularities with respect to the final position of the integration contour (in a dispersion integral) and hence to different expressions for the amplitudes. Next, it is pointed out that the non-Landau singularities fall into two classes, of which one, say the first, is given by Cutkosky. For singularities in the first class, it is shown that they may be independent of the internal masses if and only if all the internal masses are equal or if the diagram is a loop. Their positions for the latter case are given. For singularities in the second class, it is shown that they are always independent of the internal masses and that they occur only for a very restricted set of diagrams.
THE ASYMPTOTIC REGGE BEHAVIOUR FOR THE NONLOCAL POTENTIALS e-μr/r·e-μr′/r′·e-αR/R AND e-μr/r·e-μr′/r′·e(-(β(r+r′))1/2·R))/R
CHOU LON-SHIANG, DAI YUAN-BEN
1965, 21 (8): 1552-1569. doi: 10.7498/aps.21.1552
Abstract +
For the nonlocal potentials U(r,r′,R)=e-μr/r·e-μr′/r′·e-αR/R and U(r,r′,R)=e-μr/r·e-μr′/r′·e(-(β(r+r′))1/2·R))/R it is proved that the S matric element S(λ, k) is meromorphic in the topological product of the half λ -plane Reλ>-1/2 and the whole k plane cut along (-i∞, 0) and (iμ,+i∞) and that for large |λ|,S(λ, k)-1=O{1/λ3/2 exp[-λch-1(1+μ2/(2k2))]} for k > 0 and |argλ|≤π/2.
